TERRAIN NRM – Cyclone Yasi

As you know North Queensland has taken yet another blow from Cyclone Yasi which crossed the coast on the evening of February 3 2011 .While Cyclones are incredibly destructive to our homes and lives they are also even more destructive to our precious rainforest and the animals that call it home. Erosion and pollution are ever present. Our North Queensland near extinct Cassowaries are once again in a situation where food is terribly scarce and very difficult to get to on only two legs. Not to mention the Mahogany Gliders south of Tully whose habitat has been all but wiped out.

Here is a collection of photographs which Terrain Natural Resource Management of the Cassowary coast funded to bare the devastating effect Cyclone Yasi has had on our environment.
